Welcome to Zest Restaurant
At Zest Restaurant we specialise in modern British food with the emphasis on local Cumbrian produce - especially our chargrilled Cumbrian steaks and fresh seafood landed here in Whitehaven. We have a relaxed atmosphere and pride ourselves on our quality of service. Our clientele choose the restaurant for a relaxed meal where the food is the focus of the evening. Our aim is for you to leave us feeling happy and full - and perhaps a bit tipsy!
A little bit of history
Husband and wife team Emma and Ricky Andalcio met whilst working in the restaurant industry in London. They decided to leave London behind to open their own business in Emma's home town of Whitehaven.
Opened in the year 2000 Zest Restaurant was the first venture for the couple.
After selecting a premises, work was set about to transform what was in the past a former officer’s mess and then pub into the restaurant that stands today. Ricky and Emma swapped their chef’s whites for builder’s gear and did all of the refurbishment themselves – with some help from the family.
Was Whitehaven ready for a new restaurant for the millennium? Well it seems that was the case as many families and friends have enjoyed a celebratory meal with delicious food and friendly service at the restaurant since then…..even the odd Prime Minister (Tony Blair dined at the restaurant in 2001)
